MG 2011 - All MG Register Meet. - WHERE?!?!

Offline
Planning will soon be underway for the fourth all-MG Register meet...MG2011.

I'm curious as to where you, as an M.G. enthusiast, would be willing and wanting to DRIVE your M.G.???

Thanks in advance!

the midwest would be the most convenient, obviously. Lets have it at your house. or St. Louis, or Indianapolis. Or maybe at Tony's house.

How about Las Vegas?

Ok, maybe not /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

A few of things to remember...

1) This cannot be held in everyone's back yard. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif We want to change locale each time yet still be within a 2 or 3 day's drive for a majority of M.G. enthusiasts in North America.

2) It should be held sometime between early/mid June and mid/late July.

3) There should be a "draw"...something of interest...for the whole family to enjoy...not just the M.G. enthuisiast.

4) A cluster of hotels should be available to keep participants in reasonably close proximity to each other to allow mingling and parking lot lie swapping.

5) The availability of a nearby airport with commercial service is a definite plus.

Keep those suggestions coming!

Somewhere between Denver and Grand Junction colorado. Resonable to both coasts nothing but twisty roads and tons of stuff for everyone to do.

I stand by my previous post. Best MG territory in the country. Not necessarily good for those who live on the Atlantic coast though. And no it isn't in my back yard, but it's only a few hundred miles away.

Tulsa, Oklahoma. It is centrally located and there is everything you could want in this beautiful city. Two day drive from East coast or West coast and one day drive from North or South. PJ

How about Memphis? It fits your criteria pretty well. Good food, good music, big city, right on the Mississippi, etc.

Not to steal the Spridget Jubilee's thunder, but the Ozarks fulfil a lot; Hotels, hills, twisties, lakes, lots of 'secondary' attractions.
Slap in the middle of the country, between KC and STL, excellent interstate, Branson is a short drive away.
Endless things for everyone to do.

Rick,

Depending on how fast the Safety Fast crowd wants to drive, and how far,

San Diego offers beaches, resorts, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, a stones throw to DisneyLand, Knotts Berry Farm, and a host of out of the way attractions too numerous to mention... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

And me, of course /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Colorado Springs?

Mid June brings to mind the "June Sprints" at Elkhart Lake, WI Road America Track. Plenty of hotels and camping in the immediate area and reasonably close to the Wisconsin Dells. What better way to feed your need for speed by watching these fine cars at their peak performance and talk to some of the world's best racing teams. Just a thought from a newbie.

Elkhart Lake is indeed a town filed with MG history....those of you visiting should check out the gallery of Kelly Newcomb (located inside the old railroad depot...just a stone's throw from Siebken's Bar)

(Standard Disclaimer: No financial interest...be sure to check out her water colours on the website....and available for sale!)

Ahh, Elkhart. I still have the race program from the first big-time sports car race I ever attended, the 1957 June Sprints. I rode up there from Chicago in my buddy's new '57 Corvette. A wonderful experience for a high school kid.
Elkhart would be a great place for an MG meet.

B Register is having their meet in Colo. (Breckenridge) next year, if you need an excuse to visit the mountains.

Yes...Valley Forge, PA in 2008 (along with the MGCs) and Brekenridge, CO in 2009 (perhaps with the MGAs)....NAMGBR is looking for a host club for 2010.
