I am starting to take inventory of my TR4A... This past Sunday afternoon I followed Banjo's advice on removing Bondo: Apply a propane torch to the stuff until little bubbles form. Then it scrapes right off with a putty knife.

Works like a charm. FYI.

Caveat: Probably best to do this in a well-ventilated area...

That's the method I employed on my TR3. It's very effective but, yes, it's pretty noxious when it starts to burn. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Man, I hit mine with a high rpm sander and the dust flew! Not the cleanest method but effective.
