Metal vs Plastic Facet Pumps ?

I had a Facet pump die today and the only pump I could find locally to replace it was a plastic bodied "Mr. Gasket" pump. I've had Facet pumps in various British cars for more than 15 years and this was the first time one died so I was hesitant to change brands and I have no experience with the plastic bodied pumps. However, you have to use what's available.

The new pump sounds like a continuous flow gear pump (it whirrs instead of clunks). The sound level is "better" and "nicer" than the loud Facet but I would like an idea how long this new pump is going to last.

Have any of you had any experience with the plastic Facet type pumps? I'll obviously run this pump until it dies. I'd just like some kind of idea if that death will occur 1 week after the warranty expires or 10 years from now.

If it really bothers you put two in tandam with a switch on the spare.

Thanks Jack but this isn't really practical where my pump is installed. I'm just looking for comments from anyone who has used these plastic pumps before.
