Messing up a new top

Ok I know that this is a stupid question but I need to ask. When I put the top down on my 76 midget, I lay the top out on the trunk lid and fold the wings that contain the side windows back up onto it. The I take the top and slip it between the seats and the top frame. That was the way it was when I got the car and it seemed logical to me till I noticed that this method is the windows of my new top. Am I missing something here? I snap off a couple of pics if necessary.

After folding the corners over ther rear window, I fold the header bar back, and roll the rear window OVER the whole thing, I tried sliding it under like you once, but it didn't look right to me.

Thats the way I've been doing it....and the way described in the owners manual.
I know I've said this before, and I'll say it again; but i REALLY hate the tops on these things!

id like to see a midget top folding directional.....
mine is the accordion type and needs to be persuaded

I'm glad my '63 Mdget has the removeable top that stores in the trunk!

I am thinking about storing mine in the garage and putting a rain slicker in the trunk.

I'll look in my owners manual. I'm having trouble visualizing the method you guys are describing to me. It seems like the owner's manual is always the last place I think to look.

Here is a scan of the page describing top storage from my owners manual. It pretty much shows the way I have been doing it. Wondering now if I shouldn't glue some felt or something to the top frame where the top seems to rub???

Yes felt belongs there on the orginial. My new one had it anyway. I did glue some black felt on the top bows of the one I restored.
