Meet the newest member of the family/summer up-date
Hey guys,
I've been somewhat dormant on the list this summer, mainly because I've been out enjoying the TR. I got it resprayed (cheap-ish job, but looks great) earlier in the summer. After getting over the fear of spoiling the brand new looking finish, I've taken it for a few drives upstate. It's running well, although I've had to finally break down and purchase the custom trafficator connector that Bastuk in Germany makes for rack and pinion conversions. This makes it so that the steering column wiring harness doesn't bind as you turn the wheel since there is no stator tube in place. Seems as though mine has been binding and the horn now comes on and won't stop if i turn the wheel too many rotations (Art- yes, I know you told me so :blush: ). At least the Euro is cheap right now, because the part is pretty pricey.
In other news, I started obsessing over Alfa Romeo GTV6's early in the summer and ended up flying out to Ohio to drive this one back:
They seem like a relative bargain these days- their value was supposed to skyrocket in the past couple of years, but the recession put a damper on that.
Now I have two impractical cars in Brooklyn! Genius. Lovin' the Alfa so far, very fun car.
As a side note, there is a very active Alfa technical forum that I've started using. I have to say (and I hope I don't get caught out here by someone from that list) that the people on this list are about 100 times nicer and more helpful than the alfisti. Not sure why that is, but it is interesting, and a testament to how wonderful and reliable a resource this forum is. Cheers to everyone here!
