Mechanical Fuel Pump

I know I should probably be using an electric fuel pump for my '61 Bugeye 948, but I've decided to go with a mechanical one. Being quite a novice, does the rocker arm of the fuel pump simply slide into the port, or does it attach to something inside?

Bob,

It slips into the port and rides on a special lobe on the camshaft as that is where it gets it's "drive." Pretty simple operation and a good question too.
