MCOC Club "R" Hood?

Ok I was browsing the MGOC web site and came across their tops for MGBs. They have something called a Club "R" (#4) that looks pretty sweet without the two rear quarter windows and a little different than the normal top (#3).

Anyway the MGOC Club "R" Top is about ~ £206 GBP (£249.95 minus VAT at 17.5%) or about $389 USD.

I know what some of you are thinking – wouldn’t that give you a couple of blind spots? Sure it would but with my top up my rollbar pretty much blocks the view anyway so it’s not that big of a deal. I just happen to like the look and think it’d work well with my B. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Here is the link to MGOC Hoods/tops

Any thoughts? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

I also found the a similar looking top on Prestige's web site. But it looks like its a Cabriolet hood and is only listed in the UK section of their web site.

It sells for about £295.28 up to £422.08 GBP (or $556 to $796 USD) depending on the Material used. MGOC lists their Cabriolet for about a $860 after conversions.

Still kind of cool looking. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Personally I like that style of hood. What colour are you thinking of?

Prestige used to list one as a RV8 style hood, and could be had without the cabrio option (that includes a internal headliner)... Have they changed it now?

I always liked that style too, but I imagine you'd have a huge blind spot... as if there arent already huge blind spots with a normal top up.

That was a point of confusion for me as well. So I sent them an email requesting clarification and pricing for the RV8 Style top with out the headliner.

The cheapest RV8 style Cabrio SV top is $474 and the MH is about $663. Kind of pricy considering I don't really want or need the headliner living in San Diego. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

474 is a decent price IMHO.

If you are a member, I think the price is 10% less, or at least it used to be. I bought a Koni shock set from MGOC a few years ago for my MGB and was pleasantly surprised when they added the discount. Or maybe the prices already reflect it?

Hey Scott, Yes I am a member of the MGOC and know about the discount but have yet to order anything from them yet.

Kenny, Yes $474 for the Prestige top may be a great price but remember thats for their "Vinyl" Cabrio top. As I said I don't really need the headliner living in Southern Kalifornia. Would much rather use that money ($$$) for a Mohair top if I had the choice.

Just got an email to my question about the RV8 style top from Prestige.

In a nut shell they only offer the RV8 hood in Cabrio form but will offer their regular 3-window top with the single zip out window at the same price.

That means a MH fabric top w/zip out window, would cost me $425 and their Normal SV top would ring up at ~$234. Both have a $30 shipping.

Such a deal. Hmmm? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif What to do?

That's the top we're putting on my V8 car...sitting in a box in garage right now - biscuit.
