i was thinking of swapping my 1275cc engine for a rx-7 13b rotary engine and was wondering if it is worth it. A mechanic said I might need to change my engine anyway.
It seemed to work for this guy
He was at the Vintage race at Watkins. Sorry I have no further info.
I'm reading the story of Felix Wankle and the rotary engine right now, It's somthing I'd love to play around with.
Did your mechanic say why he thought your engine may need to be changed?
I've seen the Mazda into a Midget swap done, and it looked like it was a lot of work.
Jeff
I would think the Mazda engine would be too wide for a Midget....& you can get a lot of horsepower out of a well-built 1275 engine...look at Acme Speed Shop's website.
They have been a couple rotary swaps into Midgets. Probably a carb'd 12A would be the easiest. I think you have to cut the battery box and maybe widen the tranny tunnel.
Here is another one, and since you wont be needint that 1275 and tranny, i would be happy to take it off your hands for the cost of shipping.../ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
