Major Suspension Kit Install Question

I am in the process of install a major suspension kit on my 74 Midget and I have two questions. There are two rubbers seals in the kit. One looks like a O ring and the other is a flat rubber seal. One goes on the shoulder of the Kingpin and the other goes under the spring loaded dust shield. Which one goes where? Does the flat one go on the Kingpin or the dust shield? Also are the shims on the top of the Kingpin to adjust camber or to adjust the trunion link? Everything else is straight forward. I purchased rebuilt control arms from Apple Hydraulics and they will arrive Tuesday. I hope to be on the road for the fourth!

The round o-ring fits at the bottom of the swivel axles lower counter bore. The flat one fits atop the lower bushed hole of the swivel axle. Meaning the flat one is for under the grease shield and the lower one is the seal at the lowest point on the kingpin. The shims are for setting the “end float” so to speak of the vertical movement. They are placed a top the king pin as shim to the upper trunion mount. Your book will say to shim it so that when tightened the swivel axle moves freely without any vertical movement. MGB's manuels say to have 0.002 end float. I do like to set mine with a couple thou of play, I want the grease to get up there even if the upper washer is oilight.

Makes sense to me. The handbook shows a large and a small cork washer on either side of the kinpin at the control arm. I have two cork washers and they are the same??? Thanks

No, they are different sizes. I forget which one goes where, but you should be able to figure it out with close examination.
