Mad mounds of mowers!

I've got this deal going with a friend of mine. Her husband passed away last year and now she is dealing with cleaning out years of his "packratishness". I happend to ask if she had any old motors.. briggs and stratton type, as I'm currently on a kick of playing with small engines.
So now I wind up with plenty of "hobby fodder". Today I trucked home 9 (Yes 9) push mowers and 2 tillers that had been sinking into the weeds in the yard. mostly all 80-90s mowers, there are a couple of older ones in there. all said and done, I'll see how many can be revived, help some families that are in need, make a few bucks on Craigslist, help my friend clean her yard (and make sure she gets her fair share) and have a bit of fun tinkering in the process. Plus, in the end, I should wind up with a better push mower, a tiller, and a snow blower ( I got about 5 of those to go pick up still.)
It's an adventure.

quite a haul, congrats! Suddenly remembered years ago being at an auction and they had the oldest gas powered lawn mower I had ever seen. All I remember is a spark plug coming straight out the top. Anyway, talked myself out of bidding - figured I didn't need another project at that time. (had 6 cedar canoes and a boat at the time) The mower went for $5 or so and it wasn't till I was 1/2 way home that I realized I actually needed a lawn mower. You get so busy looking at something one way that you don't always see the options.

Congradulations, you're now a redneck !!!

I used to pull them from the trash whenI was eight or so, I'd get 'em running and try to sell them back to the guy who threw it away.

"Hey mister, wanna buy a good runnin' mower? I know you need one."

I do the same thing. That's my LBC money. I've made a deal with a local pawn shop. I tell them what I want, they mark it up a few dollars, boom. I don't have to be at home to try to sell them and the people who shop at pawn shops are always looking for good deals anyway. It's a win-win for me.
