TR2/3/3A LUCAS Type DR2 vs DR3A Windscreen Wiper motors

Can someone tell me if there is a significant difference between these two types of LUCAS windscreen wiper motors? Were both used in TR2's and 3's and at what point in production? Thanks in advance.

Early TR2s certainly had a different looking motor, in fact it was even mounted on the opposite (righthand) side from later TRs. If this is the change point you're looking for it would have been very early indeed.

Early TR2s had Lucas wiper model CRT15, it was mounted on the right side, with a single speed and no parking position (push in the switch when it is close to park position). The DR2s and DR3s were mounted on the left side with the difference being the DR2 was single speed, DR3 a two speed.

According to Piggott, both were used (DR3 an option) all through the side screen production beginning with TS12567.

I am afraid that I can't give you a technical answer, but when I rebuilt my TR3A the motor had a self-parking mechanism, which differed from the TR2 one in the workshop manual. There is certainly one more wire on the TR3 as that had me confused for a while.

The wiper motor on my 1958 TR3A (TS 27489 LO) has the parking feature. See attachment.

Attached is a photo of a wiper motor on a short door TR2 (TS 6000 LO) or close to it. It is the original motor on the car still owned and driven by the original owner. Someone in the past has grounded the self-parking wire incorrectly, but you can see the spot where it used to be connected.
