Lucas or Replacement

When purchasing replacement parts, is it better get the Lucas part or the replacement part?

I talking about the distributor parts, but also in general.

Most Lucas parts are now made in India.
Most of them aren't worth the box they come in either.
Batches of bad rotors, dizzy caps that crack, points where the plastic melts from the friction of the dizzy cam, and who knows what else.
This was a few years ago, maybe things got better but I just will not use anything in a green Lucas box.
Now if you find NOS Lucas England, go for it. Other than that, the italian replacement parts are just fine.

IMHO, replace you points and condenser with an electronic ignition, like a Pertronix. As for the rotor, cap and wires. I would buy from one of the bigger vendors, because they (usually) stand behind what they sell.

I agree with the elec ignition update. I got my replacement cap and rotor from Auto Zone. Well made stuff from Germany.
