Lucas coils

I have just taken delivery of a Lucas sports coil to replace the one that came with the car - that will be my spare. On the box it says that the gap on the plugs can be opened up to give a fatter spark, but does not say to what extent. Standard is 25 thou, has anyone any experience of the sports coil and the re gapping of the plugs?

Good question. Does your car have points or pertronics?
I don't know the answer but I guess the gap would be wider with the pertronics. Bob

Hi Bob, If you are only changing the coil but retaining the points You can open the "SPARK PLUG" /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif gap to 0.030" safely. If you also have the Pertronix electronic module installed then the PLUG gap can be opened up to 0.35 - to -0.40".--Fwiw--Keoke--
