TR2/3/3A Lower Front Suspension Overhaul

After getting tired of seeing the box of ”major front suspension“ components sitting on the shelf for some years, I decided to tackle the lower front suspension of ‘59 TR3A. Inspection of trunnion pins suggests past episodes of inadequate lubrication? have left pins much less than ideal (looks almost like burnished rust!) and with caution from other posts of mixing old with new in this area, replacement became appealing. That has opened another can of worms in that Revington TR in the UK offer new trunnion pins which greatly reduces overhaul costs of new Vertical Link and Trunion as well as the headaches associated with getting well fitting matched Vertical Link and Trunnion. Existing Trunnion and Vertical Link on left seem fine with no discernible play; haven’t gotten to the right side yet. I haven’t stripped Trunnion and VL yet so I’m not sure if VL isn’t bent…Any suggestions please regarding how one should proceed at this stage? Thanks in advance!

when I redid mine, I used heavily used RTR components, including the upper trunnion kit to remove the positive camber and add positive caster. I did have the body off, though. You can see the rebuild in the attached. No pix of the suspension rebuild itself. Sorry…. Jim
