Lower breather hose-painted or not?

Is the lower breather hose on the block painted engine green or left unpainted? Another way of stating this is the rear breather hose on the tappet plate painted or unpainted? Mine is painted, but I've seen more unpainted ones. I'm just not sure.

SKH: On my early BJ-7 the breather hose (exiting engine side plate) was painted engine color green as original. A good portion of the paint has rubbed-off over the years but it's definately engine green. The hose-clamps also appear to have been painted this color as well. Can't be too sure about the top hose that connects at the T fitting though. GONZO

I recall reading that all the breather hoses and clamps were engine color except the one that goes from the T to the back carb. The paint wears off and hoses get changed over the years so that is why you see some that are unpainted. The originals have a fabric like texture to the rubber. I have an original lower hose (short 90 degree bend) on my 'spare' motor and it was painted.

Cheers,
John

Yup ... crankcase breather hoses, clamps, and pipes were installed before painting except from the valve cover to the air cleaner.

Cheers,
John
