I must confess I am not a huge movie aficionado - I have no idea what most of the Golden Globe/ Academy Award movies even are.
However, there are some movies that I think just need to be seen on the big screen - Rogue One/ Guardians of the Galaxy - adventure & sci fi genre springs to mind.
That said the other is classics. - our local theatre occasionally shows (restored) classic movies that I would never have had the chance to see on the big screen originally - or to re-see movies that I saw years ago.
Yesterday we saw Breakfast at Tiffanys - I am not sure I had even seen it in its entirety before (TBH until the movie started I mentally thought I was watching Roman Holiday
) that said, what a great afternoon! I love the richness of the colour, the details (the cars!) It is just so great to see them on a big screen! (as an aside, years ago we went to a rep theatre and watched an afternoon of Bugs Bunny on the big screen - awesome!) BTW Breakfast at Tiffanys came out the year I was born!
The same theatres run things like White Christmas - at Christmas - fabulous!
Every February they run a "Digital Film Festival" (now called the Flashback Film Festival) - this year hoping to see
Blade Runner/ Groundhog Day/ Starship Troopers/ Fifth Element/ Princess Bride and Running Man - my true favourites though are old Bond flicks - (the really old ones) none of which are showing this year.
