Lotus Seven restoration video

hah... nice... "British Cars have a way of kicking the soul out of you"... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

That was funny!

Was enjoyable, but he is building a kit car. Bet it goes well when finished.

Yup. They were ALL "kit cars" until the Elan +2 was released. That was the first "production" Lotus not offered as a kit.

AFAIK, yup. Packed on a pallet, "ready to assemble". Lotus East would put 'em together or you could "do-it-to-yourself."

Hmm. Never knew that. I missed out on two original Elites a few years back. Both cars with a ton of spares, including a crated Climax, for 10 grand.
Jeff

Are we talking the pretty round ones or the wedge shaped hatchbacks?

[ QUOTE ]
The original, pretty, Elites, Kenny.

Great way of puttin' it, Jeff! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Had a chance when I was much younger, about 1976, to autocross a Super Seven when my bud broke his leg. All I can say is wow. I had been running a Bugeye and this was a rocket, on the straight aways anyway, not too good in tight corners. Fun fun.

ummm... not good in corners... Lotus Seven... butt-end will wash sooo quick!!!

"HERE, hold my beer n' watch 'is..."

Four wheels an' a board... devilish. But bloody QUICK! And once you've had enuff stick time in one, it'll usually scare off the competition just showin'up.

The 7 is the car to beat.....

The SCCA HATES them /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif

Don't bother ME none, Dave! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

well heck... it's a barely street legal race car...

I dun care *who* hates them... I'll take one any day! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Kinda where that was aimed... if a Seven shows up at the SCCA event, it'll usually be FTD and Bob's yer Uncle. They can't be BANNED, and can't be disqualified *easily*... it's been Lotus' "cross to bear" as long as the marque has been around.

Tough duty. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
