lost oil pressure help please

after some searching I found some useful information on oil filter construction to study if you cannot click on it you will have to copy and paste in your browser. It would be interesting to know how the oil filter failed and would not pass any or very little oil. could it be it was not the correct filter for the car? I use to go to the part store and try to find a longer oil filter thinking it had more surface area thus cleaning better but never thought of the internal parts of the filter and pressure relief springs and ratings for different engines Again live and learn

K&N don't make your regular type filter. It looks like it is on the outside, but they have a valve inside where most other brands do not. Maybe its possible this valve got stuck... but I've never heard of one getting stuck shut.

IMO the K&N isn't necessarily an upgrade. Most filters are made by the same 3 or 4 manufacturers, different specs of course, but minimal real difference. I love the grippy stuff on my Frams.

Brian,

I went back to the Fram and yes the Fram cross is printed right on the back of the

K N box

I was thinking in that I installed the new (TR6) oil pump and with the increased pressure that in might have pushed 40 years of crud right into the new filter ?

this sounds the most reasonable answer to this mystery

any one else's thoughts ??
