I filled the dash pots with oil, filled the gas tank with fuel, installed a new fuel filter, new air filters, new spark plugs, new wires, new points and lubed everything. The little cars runs great, plenty of power and gets a lot of attention. Everything is great until I make a right turn. I experience a total loss of power, hesitation and suddenly the engine gets power and the car runs great again. I have tried this at very slow speeds and very fast speeds and it always dies for a short time. I have tried to nake it happen in reverse and turning left and can not make it happen. My MGB just does not want to turn right. Has anyone had this happen to their car or know how to fix it? All information will be greatly appreciated. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
 
Jim, my gut feeling tells me you have a bare wire somewhere that is shorting during the loads induced by the right turn, and is killing the ignition. Try rocking the engine back and forth by hand at an idle, and see if you can make it happen.
Or doesn't it act like total ignition loss?

I would agree with Jeff. I would check the + and - coil leads in particular and make sure they aren't bare and/or contacting anything and make sure the connectors are tight. Trying to rock the engine at idle is a good suggestion, but also try wiggling individual wires to see if there is a weak connection somewhere.

Jim, if you determain it's not a wire problem, check the floats in the carbs, if you are set low it gives this type of reaction. Wayne
 
I had a simular problem with my 72 MG Midget. It turned out to be a loose conection with the battery post. The battery would only move a fraction of an inch but it was enough to remove the ground connection.
