Loosening the steering adjuting nut

Say, what's the trick to loosening that blasted steering adjustment nut on the steering box? Not only is there almost zero room to negotiate a tool (two tools actually, if you count the screw) but the nut appears to be a non-standard size (wentworth?). Some of you have done this I'm sure, any tips?

Hi Neverts, I do it with a standard 11/16" off set wrench or the same size 3/8" drive socket and a stubby handle. Alternatively, if you have a brass drift you can tap the nut loose, an offset screw driver comes in handy to adjust the screw.---Keoke
 
Thanks Keoke...the 11/16 socket doesn't quite fit on the nut, I'll try a metric size (18 mm), and a stubby screw driver. Nothing is easy...except looking at my beautiful car. See attached.

Hi Neverts, If you have a hard time finding the right size to fit the nut, I recently bought a tool set, Metrinch, from Orchard Supply Harware. They deceided to discontue carring the line. 75% off, if your store still has any. You can find them pretty cheap on Ebay too. Anyway, Metrinch will fit any size. And if it comes down to rounded heads, this product works, where others slip. Just throwing that out, in case it gets to that point. Good luck. Roger
