Loosen those nuts!

Something I just discovered online. Using a lighter and a candle to remove a tight nut.

I've used heat to "expand" and loosen a nut before, but never thought of melting wax into the threads. Heat rises, wax drips.

I wonder if the heat alone is enough to loosen the nut. Is the wax merely a "placebo"?

Impressive! "Hold my beer, watch this."

I use wax regularly as part of loosening nuts and bolts - heat it with a torch, touch it with a candle and the wax wicks into the threads.
