TR2/3/3A Loose wing beading TR3A

The wing beading just ahead of the door on my TR3a keeps riding up due to a loose fender bolt. I've removed the fender sealer plate and it appears that the side of cage securing the nut is open allowing it to spin. Any ideas on how to close the cage in this very limited access space without removing the fender. Just looking for things to keep me busy. TIA

Only chance I think would be to remove the sealing plate and try to reach up in there with long pliers. Probably have to lay under the car so you can get your arm into that cavity (hopefully your arms are skinnier than mine are) and have a helper try to turn the bolt while you pinch the cage. Obviously you'll want to remove the bolt, chase the threads, and apply some anti-seize.

Might be easier to just remove the fender!

I have had the same problem, I don't believe you can reach it with a pair of pliers. I know this sound a little crazy, I took a very small wood shimm placed it between the fender and the bead and pushed it down. That was 5 years ago and it has stayed put.

I used a bit of epoxy on the portion of the tab that was exposed when it came up a wee bit. Crude but effective and if ever I need to remove it the epoxy is likely brittle enough I will be able to break it free and clean it up.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I think I will try one more time to reach and tighten it, but if that doesn't work then the wood shim or epoxy sound like great solutions that will work for me. Thanks again.
