MGB Looking to purchase a green 67 MGB

I am hunting a ORIGINAL green 67 without backup lights. A local fellow wants to do a restoration on one and have the Heritage Certificate match the car. Any project cars out there with good paperwork? The better the project the better the $$$.I will pass on any leads. A very late 66 build date car would also work. Whatchagot? Bob

Got no green but have a decent pull handle car.

I'll go check mine - Paint's not original, but am pretty sure it was BRG under current BRG. Is existence of backup lights a deal killer? And what, (excuse my cluelessness)other than data plate and stickers identifying color and RPO's and clear (not salvage) title do you mean by paperwork? Only papers I've ever seen with an MG are underneath to catch oil drips. lol Okay, in Corvette lingo, are you looking for a "numbers matching" (where each and every major component is teh exact s/n installed at factory or a "numbers correct" where each major compnent by date stamp could have been (but not necessarily so) from a particular car or number of cars built at a certain time?

Mine does have backup lights so scratch mine off the list. Also I can't verify (without first getting a Heritage Certificate) that numbers match. Nearly $100 investment for a project worth less than $1000? Or am I misjuding the relative value of projects.

Proper paperwork to me is a title in your name. I do not think this project would go into date stamps and as long as the engine is a proper GB series the number tag would be reproduced by the one listed on the certificate. This is not a crazy request. If its green under the dash and looks like original paint under there we may go for it. The hunt continues. Bob

I've got a '65 Roller BRG that needs a lot of work if any one is interested.

Well, I looked at my old pre-backup lights pull handle with correct engine but it appears it's always been red.

Naught much else ya really need. These things ain't got prancin' horses onna nose badge, after all.

Well, I guess it all depends on IF the Heritage Certificate for a particular vehicle lists teh serial number of teh engine, transmission, diff, along with body number. That is super-matching, and probably harder to find than not as I suspect many B's out there have had companion parts cars provide major component transplants over the years. Even minor transplants - as I recall swapping axle shafts from my '64 into my '67, and although eng/trans are proper to the '67 I cannot attest to them originally been there. But, if anyone is interested in an originally BRG '67 with backup lights, and/or a '64 (currently medium green, may have been always such) I can hook you up as I need garage space to disassemble my originally light blue, currentl red and gray primer, '56 A.

MGB's aren't like Corvettes....there's no such thing as a matching numbers MGB....you have the VIN for the car listed in a couple of places: but where the VIN tag says "Motor Number" all MGB's say "See Engine"....as for other numbered items, there's no way to trace a particular ,say, transmission to a particular MGB.

About the only thing you'll get with a British Heritage Certificate is the body color & the options as it left the actory.
