Wow, that must be in Californy money! How much in regular ol North Carolina money???? This would fall under one of the reasons to buy a completed restoration as per a previous post I would think.. Greed is ruining our hobby guys. Let me rephrase my post. Anyone know a source for a good trunk lid that I could actually buy without losing sleep over? Thanks ,Bob

I've got an extra one that I might not use.

update: I looked at the lid which was never examined closely since it was an extra part with the car. It has dents on the left side of the truck lock that someone has drilled out to work the metal with a stud puller. I dont' think I would mess with this trunk lid.

Can you show me a picture of it ?. Keoke

Here are some quick pictures. The inside support for the truck lock is the area with the rust on the inner lip of the truck lid. I beleive it doesn't extend to the outer skin.

BR,

For new, you can check with ATB Classics since they are a vendor here at the forum (use the Vendor up top). If that turns out to be too costly then you can call around for used .. Healey Surgeons, British Car Specialists, Bob Yules Auto Farm, and Hemphill's Healey Haven. There is also a healey owner in the San Diego area, Udo Putzke who has lots of used parts for sale. PUTZKES@cox.net

Cheers,
John

Thanks everyone for the response's.. Where on the keyboard does one find that small squigley L symbol that must represent British Pounds?.. David, where are you located in Tennessee? What you have is not as good as I really was hoping for but may be better than what I am working with now. If you are on the eastern side of the state I would consider looking at it. Thanks Bob

Hi Bob, that bootlid is very easily repaired. If the price is right pick it up. To John Loftus; Putskeee, Ain't got none---Keoke-- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

FYI .. Special character can be found (in Windows) by going to Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Character Map. You can use the default font or select a new one. Then scroll for the special character, select it and copy it. Then use Ctrl+V to paste it into your post or document.

Cheers,
John

Bob and Skip,

Sorry we lost our DSL service for the last 36 hours. The car we bought with the body restored has a new truck lid on it. Our truck lock which came off the truck pictured above doesn't fit the new lid properly. We are taking the painted truck lid to the shop that did the work 15 years ago to see what they can do. If they can fix the problem then the original lid will be sold. I didn't really think this trunk lid was that valuable! Will keep you guys posted. I will have to estimate about a months time on finalizing our decision.

Thanks!

Thanks guys, I would like to take a look at it if possible.
David, How about sending me a pm of where you are located In Tennessee, If it's not too far maybe I could arrange to come by. Thanks Bob Bob.Gardner@GE.com

Bob,

Forgot to mention I'm in Memphis. I can't get any farther West from you! Small chance I could bring it to MG2006 in Gatlinburg, TN on June 22-25th. We'll see if it will fit in the car or maybe a fellow club members MGB GT who will be traveling with us.
