First let me make it clear, that I have no intrest in any tire company, nor do I intend to be in the future. This information is for LBC owners who are having a hard time finding the right tire for thier cars. Universal Tire Company in Hershey Pa. just might have what you need. They sell English made Avon tires, along with Vredestien and many other makes. They specialize in antique and classic car tires. They have been around for many years. Thier web site is; www.universaltire.com /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif PJ

They might be Carl, I really don't know. I used to buy my tires from them when I was heavy into antique cars, (American), about fifteen years ago. I was surprised to see the prices for the British made Avon tires though. Glad I don't need any of them! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif PJ

I was a bit disappointed especially with the Avon prices cos they would have been perfect for my '69 but then they are probably made in such small quantities the price reflects this .tHe tires for real old - pre war - cars are even higher. At least we can still get them Seem that the Vredesteins and the most "gettable in terms of period look and price.

I buy my unusual tires from Coker - they're just up the road from me....last tires I had made by them were thin white wall Goodyears for Jerri's VW.

What kind of LBC do you have Peter? The 185R15 Avons might be a good choice for a MGC.

The Vredstein 'Sprint Classic' tires (which look like older tires) are not available in a 14" size, as far as I am aware. The "Sprint +" is available in a 165R14, but it 'looks' more like a modern tire based on sidewall and tread design (albeit in a classic size).

Matt, 165/65R14 and 165/70R14 can be had in a Vredistien Quatrac 2 tire. They have a very smooth ride and grip the road extremely well. They also have a very attractive side wall design.
165/R/15 can be had in the Vredistien Sprint+ tire. The Tire Factory sells them but any Vredistien dealer can get them. If they have to order them from the factory in Holland, it could take three months to get them. You don't have to guess how I know that! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif PJ
