Looking for Adjustable Steering WHeel

Anyone have an adjustable steering wheel for a TR3 they want to sell/trade/giveaway? Or know of a source?

Thanks,

Bill

Is it to replace a bad one, or do you want to put one in place of a non-adjustable wheel?? Personally, I don't like the adjustable wheel because when adjusted all the way in, it sticks out farther then a standard wheel, and then the only movement it has is still closer which can put the wheel almost against your chest. I guess you need to have extremely long legs and very short arms to make it a desirable option. YMMV. :welcoming:

My recently acquired '58 TR3A has the adjustable wheel. One of the twelve spokes is broken and I'd like to replace it. I haven't noticed the wheel being too close, but then again, I'm 6'2" and have the seat all the way back. How much more clearance does the non-adjustable wheel have? What's the difficulty and cost of swapping my wheel out for the non-adjustable wheel?

I'm 6'2" also, and having driven both, I'd say that there is about 1" to 1-1/2" extra room, maybe more. I just measured the distance my standard wheel is from the dash capping, and it's about 2-1/4" away.

Not sure what's involved or what parts have to be changed over, but since the steering shaft itself is different, that at least has to be changed along with the wheel. Of course, they changed from one piece column to two piece column after TS42000 I believe. Just another consideration, as changing out the one piece shaft will be a bigger job.

Thanks for checking. I think I'd rather just replace the wheel than the whole shaft, etc. The car certainly has other issues I can be throwing my time and money at.
