Spitfire Looking For a Spit

I am wanting to purchase a Spitfire in the next 5 months for my wife for Christmas. She bought me a GT6 last Valentines day and I want to return the Favor. My Gt6 is in Shambles but thats how I like them. I want to buy her a driver. Somthing that will be a rolling restoration. I only want to spend between $1500.00 and $2000.00 dollars for it. and I want it to come from around NC or SC so I can drive it home. I did not think this was going to be a issue but it seems most "drivers" on ebay or trader on line are wanting more than I think they are worth. Any Ideas of other sites to look at? I figure prices will drop at the end of fall.

Check Craigslist in yours and surrounding areas, check the online free classifieds at triumphspitfire.com and www.vtr.org, and go to the VTR site to locate web sites for VTR chapters in or near the Carolinas. And you might find useful contacts and places to search at the North American Spitfire Squadron and/or on their e-mail list or (also via e-mail) spitfires@autox.team.net

OH, and there's also jaXed ; use the "filter" in the above link to fine-tune the search (mostly eBay and Craigslist) for Spitfire and even for specific years within that search.

That's a start!

Thanks Andrew.

Pware, like Andrew says the NASS group is an excellent place for all things Spitfire related. Great buncha guys and they really know their Spit lore.

Join NASS, watch the YaHoo Groups NASS site, ask around, and you will find the Spit you're looking for. What's more, if you get one from one of the NASS guys, you're buying from a known source.

Good luck, let us know!

PM sent.

Are you a member of the local/regional club? My experience is that most of the under-$5K cars around here change hands within our local club and never see eBay or Craigslist.

You may find someone has the car you want just sitting in the garage but they lack the motivation to actively sell it. A little push may be all it takes for them to realize they aren't really enjoying that car and could use the extra space & $$$.
