looking back songs

Definitely Peggy Lee... particularly with the spoken part (which has some odd lyrics).

Still feel like this should count - but hasn't been mentioned

Mentioned in the very first post, used it as an example. Fantastic song, but it's very much a (lost-)love song.

It's the whole point to the thread, to find introspective songs that aren't love/lost-love songs.

I apologize for being pedantic about it.

A couple more........

Chicago - "Old Days"

Statler Brothers - "Do You Remember Those?"

- Doug

In memory of the late David Bowie. This is looking back song of sorts.

When I was in high school, a couple of friends shouted at me from the window of a Muni bus in SF. "We have an extra ticket to David Bowie, get on the bus!" I declined, because my curfew was too early to get back in time, and I was still grounded (on restriction) from attending the Police concert some months before. (Said I was at a girlfriend's, my mother called to check on me and the girlfriend wasn't convincing.) The passers-by on the street were saying "Are you crazy? GO!" I wish with all my heart that I had. I think someone had a point when they said that in the end, we regret the things we didn't do, more than the things we did.

Absolutely.

I certainly have more wish I had...'s than wish I hadn't...'s

And some of those were the concerts I didn't attend.
