Looking at my first Sunbeam

I've been pondering looking at an Alpine. I've liked them since my uncle had one in the early 70's. I'm just curious how available the parts are and if people are happy with them. I've found a descent restoration project in my area for around the 1500 dollar mark and that seems reasonable to me.
I've done a Midget restoration and was curious if the parts are as available as they are for the MG products. I saw Victoria British has a catalog.
Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to the BCF!! The Alpine is a great little car, the early ones being considered more "pure" style-wise, with those big fins, but the later cars had the better engines. Either one would be fun to drive. The parts for the Alpine are not as common as those for the MG......very few cars have that kind of support......and panels may be something of an issue, though not impossible. Mechanically you are quite well off, the oily bits being based on the Rootes saloons of the period. They seemed to be pretty bullet-proof as well, so reliability shouldn't be a problem.

Welcome .
I enjoy this site immensly due to the fact that so many makes are discussed.
There is a great support in the Sunbeam world. There are lots of available parts but some new body panels are a bit pricey.
For strictly alpines you may want to visit www.sunbeamalpine.org.That is a good site also but restricted to Alpines.
Feel free to contact me .

I like them, and I know they can go well. At my local anual ABFM, a particular Alpine has routinely beaten my 4 door Cortina in the Autocross, and no MG or Triumph has managed to do that ever.
