Now that looks like a proper paint job. About right Tony on coverage. Let it dry at least two days now.
 
:lol: I'm painting all the individual engine pieces while it dries....today I resanded & reprimed the oil pan & timing cover & started priming the head...tomorrow everything will be finished & I'll clear coat it all.....Monday I start putting it together!
 
No, Barry, I've actually left the block alone all day today except for putting it on the new stand...been working on plates, pan, valve cover, etc. Most of them are painted & I'll paint the remainder tomorrow....head is about half primed & I ran out of primer....I'll get everything painted & clear coated tomorrow & then not touch anything until Monday.
Pulleys & fan are soaking in parts cleaner...I'll sand blast them Monday & prime...trying to get each piece finished a few days before I need it for reassembly.
 
Sounds like you got it all planned out. I have never primed a block before painting. Nor have I clear coated it.. Something I will definitely consider on the next build. How does the clear hold up? Is it easier to clean than the paint?
 
Clear coat I have is good up to 1500 degrees!

Green is pretty - don't know what it'll look like in my new red engine compartment but Jack would've put a hit out on me if I'd not done it correctly! hehehehe
 
If you are going to do it, try to do it right.
 
Clear is a necessity with the Moss engine paint, coolant will bleach the Moss engine paint out in a second, I use the Duplicolor hi temp engine clear ar over all Moss engine paints. Tony I tried to return your call today, was busy getting Fred McConnell new MGB race engine loaded up for him to take home. Got your answering machine when I tried to call you back. Good to see you went for making yourself a side adapter.
 
Me as well. Guess I will redo engine when it comes out next time.
 
How about the POR15 BMC green paint..still needs clear?
Planning to paint tomorrow..I know, its a '74 1275 and it should be black..and it is nicely painted as such right now..but I like the green!
 
I totally agree my 67's 1275 should be green but the P.O. that rebuilt the engine painted it black... ahhhh ! (what was he thinking !)
I want to pull the engine just so I can paint it green but if I do that I should redo the engine bay ... and if I go that far I should repaint the rest of it and if I do that I should get a new interior kit and ... we know where that story goes right Tony ? :smile:
