Invest 92L storm just cleared the island
after about 20 hours of drenching rains
and local flooding.

It appears to be gaining some warmth and rotation.
Most computer models are putting south Florida
as a landfall.

Been watching it AND the two following it! We are being warned to expect it late Sunday, early Monday! I'm hoping it stays weak, does the Cuba skim and hits the Yucatan somewhere! Keeping fingers crossed! Haven't you had much rain your way Scott?? We sure don't need it here (we get a good daily dose!)...maybe out over Lake O which is still too low!!

Latest projection looks bad for the west coast of Fl. (as a Cat1 hurricane)...Keep a weather-eye out Doc. and Jack!!

Yeah, I'm more concerned over the "trailing" ones. May be a "busy" season!

Too soon to tell, just yet. :madder:

I need 2 days notice, and a place to stay.
She's a TS now.

We're just off the drought map. South Florida has had a lot of rain, we've had comparatively little. We've had afternoon rains (finally) for the past month, but some place 20 miles away will get a ton and we'll get enough to wet the driveway. In the past week we've had several new brush fires pop up, but it's not quite dry enough to cause any major problems.

Doc needs to go staple some cardboard to his windows maybe. Cat 1, Tuesday.

Cat-1? Duct tape. Cardboard don't come out 'til we see cat-2.

Send it to California...

Doc., just X tape the windows with blue-tape!!
It'll color-co-ordinate with the blue tarps!!

I'll call it "Racer's tape" then... I think my last roll of gaffer's tape got used up in about 1991.

I woke up to heavy rain this morning here in Apalachicola...but waiter at breakfast said its not expected here until Wednesday - I'll be long gone......good waves out on the beach of St George's Island pushing lots of sea shells onto the beach afterwards.

For You Florida Folks- This storm packs a tremendous
amount of rain. Not much wind when it hit us but
my goodness did it ever rain buckets.

It's not like we couldn't use all that water! Lake O is still only at 11' (way low!) and it looks like Fay may head up into the Georgia/Carolinas where I'm sure the drought-stricken will welcome it! Good to know the winds weren't too bad, but that could change as she crosses the straights anyway!

Well, here we are at 10:55 am. That big red, orange and yellow shadow to the east of the storm has just arrived and the rain has commenced! I think it's gonna be pretty wet around here for at least the next week!! :eeek: At least those developing systems behind this one look to have evaporated!!

Not going to be a big deal (except local flooding, maybe). I'm worried about the tornadoes that pop up.

More gaffers tape please!

Just got a report of some decent water-spouts locally!!!
Right before I got to Apalachicola, a water spout took out all the power on St George's Island - was out for days! They had generators running things.

Bah - those things are happening all the time anyway. I'd been trying to get a project flown in the keys for weeks. One day everything looked "ok" weather-wise, but the Navy base had waterspouts. Satellite imagery looked like a perfectly clear day.

All buttoned up and ready for the storm. Wrapped up the 78 B and Alfa with 2 car covers each and blue tarps, and hid the 72 B in a friend's garage. Got 2 projects going and had to pull all parts out of the carport and into the kitchen. Guess I won't be doing much cooking.
