Look at the goodies

The 1380 engine would be a mover, even for $4200 ish
That exchange rate will be a killer!

It would be more like $5000 (current exchange rate is 1.85048, and that's before you pay your bank or credit card company a percnetage fee) after freight and customs broker you can build it here cheaper. I order from England certain items, but no more than I have to, UPS recently changed their international shipping rates, a $300 order last week, cost me $151.00 to ship, but the customer had to have it and we could not source it in the US. Orders from England only pay off if you buy a bunch and can ship it slow. If you shipped a engine by boat, after all fees and customs/brokers, add another 500+ to that. Shipping from the UK to US has became a PITA after 911.

The point I guess I was makeing was the web site with all the pics of the intresting stuff.

Oh, yeah Peter May has some cool stuff. But you can get the smae cool stuff form Winners Circle. Alot of the goodies for our cars are made right here in the states so you have to watch what you buy, you may be going around the world to get get across the street. Actually Spridget racing is about or maybe even more popular here than in the UK. We US builders are also producing more power from our race engines than the Brits as well, mostly because we can get good race gas where they cannot, so we run more compression than them. Good US race 1275 makes a good 25 more HP than there motors do.

I guess if Dave and Rob would make a better website for Winners Circle you guys would already know this, I've been getting on him for years about his website.

Yup, I've always been a little curious about their lack luster web presence. There are some good web designers that could fix them up in exchange for some spridget parts.

Better engines here?
From what I understand there is also better access to high quality machine shops here in the US than in the UK.

Nag him some more! If he'd just put a current price list on his site, that alone would make a big difference! On more than one ocassion, I should have sent him an e-mail reagrding a product, but instead looked it over figuring if there's no posted price it's too much for my wallet. I'm sure this was an incorrect assumption, but if someone else has a quoted price that seems agreeable why bother calling? Next time I'll make sure to drop them a line....

That is the reason I like my Vonage phone. I can call long distance and not have to factor that call into the price of the product supplies. Flat rate long distance makes very good sense.

Dave and Rob are old school, they still like using the phone, just call them, they are very well known amoungst the racing crowd, been in business over 30 years . I somewhat understand, you guys wouldn't believe the emails I get, As you know I'm not the greatest typer in the world, so when the emails get to where it requires mulitple pages, I just tell people to call me. I also found out that telling someone to call me normally sorts out the real buyers from the day dreamers as well.

"real buyers from the day dreamers"
I fully understand what you mean. However, if they had a detailed web site with good pictures/illustrations/descriptions, then the daydreamers may not even email. I've called them a few times, and always found them very helpful.

Who knows when a day dreamer like me gets a wild hair. LOL

Dumb question, what HP should a GOOD 1297 street engine produce and what kind of money are we talking about?

Also how about a real good 948 head, HP increase, and cost?

Just dreaming along with all the other folks you understand.

You guys aren't daydreamers, you guys are "get er done" kind of guys, but I'm sure you know what I mean we see them come and go here on the forums, they tear it up for while, then they are gone and we forget about them as quickly as we met them. They say something like 90% of projects never get finished, I guess that whats make finishing a project so worthwhile, we beat the odds /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

LOL.

Guess I've been on both sides of that 90% line. I've abandoned one project vehicle (a CJ7), but 'finished' a Scout 800, an SJ, a ZJ and the spridget.

The catch is, they're all usable, but never 'finished' /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My dad had an '80? Scout with a 304CI? V8. That was a fun ride.

yea, this one is a 67 with the 196 I4 (the half V8). Those 304 Scout IIs are much better IMO. Actually, that 1980 model is the most desirable, since it has a texas bolt pattern D300. Very desirable with the Jeep crowd!

Here's a photo of the 67:

One of these days I'll finish up the steering and actually wheel it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

He actually owned it twice. Why he sold it each time I don't know. I think it originally had a 4 cylinder. I think he still regrets selling it the second time.

Yeah, I copied my panhard rod design from the picture on the Peter May site.

Since you guys are talking about cool goodies for Spridgets, here's two other UK vendors:
