A while back I found a NOS original Trafalgar screen washer pump but it has a slightly different bezel and a black plastic knob. Does anyone have an original BN4 one they could take a few dimensions off so I can get the bezel and knob remade to the original style?

Hi Andrea, thanks for the pic. Hoping maybe Mr RF can sneak out to the garage with a caliper and measure the vital statistics for me ;-)

Andy.

I would, but the car has been stored all winter, and it's not on site. I'm not sure exactly when I'll be seeing it again...

If you can't find the information you're looking for before then, check back with me in about a month erandyforbes@aol.com

Besides the car currently being in storage, it's also slated for a move some 1100 miles to the south; this will be the last year I'll need offsite storage!

In the meantime, perhaps you can scale something from these; it will at least let you get the ball rolling:

Thanks for the pics Randy, there should be enough info there to get sizes from. I'll see what I can come up with.

Cheers,
Andy.

Just a quick update and a thank you to Randy for the pics.

Got the parts back from the chrome plater last week and the results are fairly convincing, unlike my vinyl hole cutting skills.

I opened the pics in MSPaint and measured the known dimensions in pixels, then made an Excel sheet to find the multiplier which led me to the rest of the dimensions. An interesting point is that the design of the bezel changed sometime between April BN4 and BN6 because the thread diameter in the pics won't go through the hole in my dash.

Andy.

Looks good! Did you by chance get any extra pieces made (the plating on mine being 55+ years old...)?

Just to note, my web server *should* be back online sometime later this week. I expect all my pictures to still be accesible via their original tags. Moving from one state to another is not without its problems

Hey Randy,

Sorry I only made the one set. Getting yours re-chromed shouldn't be too much drama if you want to spruce things up a little, just don't let them polish the heck out of it. I have slowly been getting everything rechromed after finding a company with reasonable prices but it is a hard job getting them to not wreck things by over polishing. They seem to start with an 80 grit sanding belt and work up from there despite explaining many times that I don't want the hotrod look.

Actually I'm over your way next week, we are doing reliability trials in Stuart for our latest product so will be stationed there for then next month or so. Right now I have two jumpers on and am sitting next to the heater so it will be a good change of climate.

Andy.

Andy, if you get the opportunity, give me a call and stop by. I'm just getting things rigged up around here; powered up the lift in the attached garage today, and AC going into the detached one tomorrow.
