Longbridge 100-6 Throttle Linkage Pictures - Any Out There?

After spending a few hours sifting through the parts pile and cleaning up parts, I still don't fully understand how the throttle linkage fits together on the Longbridge 100-6. I searched the forum and various photo albums on the forum and can't find much about this.

The foot pedal and the shaft through the side of the foot well is now in place, and I have a good start on rebuilding the horizontal piece and the rods that attach to it that fit under the firewall shelf.

Does anyone have pictures of the piece that joins the shaft from the pedal to the piece under the firewall? I also need help with visualizing the linkage parts that run from the firewall area to the carburetors. And I'm also wondering about the choke linkage at the carbs; I do have the choke mount inside the cockpit and the choke cable installed through the firewall, but that's it. Most likely, parts are missing.

As mentioned before, someone else took this car apart. Any help, especially detailed pictures, will be much appreciated.

EDIT: One thing I noticed is that I do not have the correct spacers between the manifold and the SU carbs either. (Without the correct spacers, the linkage at the carbs won't line up with the pocket on the firewall.) If anyone could measure the exact thickness of the spacers/distance between the manifold and carbs, that also would be of great help.

Thanks for the help, HealeyBlue and Andrea! Above and beyond my expectations!

I'm still wondering about the thickness of the carb/manifold spacer blocks and about how the choke cable hooks up at the carburetor levers. If anyone can help with that, it would be great.
 
Regarding linkage I'd swap a full and original set up for a Dennis Welch cable system if you fancied a deal but I'm in the uk ?

Thanks, Randy. That should work well.

Most of the linkage is now in place. The hold up now is finding spacer blocks to go between the manifold and carbs, so that the carb linkage will align with the linkage socket (no idea what it really is called) on the firewall. My guess on the thickness of those blocks is that they are about 1" thick, but that is just a wild guess.
 
HealeyBlue and Randy, in your pictures one can see part of the heat shield that goes between the carbs and the exhaust manifolds. That reminds me; I also need to make or find one of those. Do you (or someone else) have any pictures and or dimension of the heat shield?

Am I correct that it does not fit between the carbs and the intake manifold? I wondered what those two small (1.4"?) bolt holes in the manifold were for. Now it makes sense; the top of the heat shield appears to fasten there.

Chances of finding one ready made may not be so good, but it should not be impossible to make one, either out of steel or aluminum sheet. It likely would be good to have one in place.
 
It doesn't appear that I have any detailed pictures of the heat-shield before fitting the carbs. Incidentally, Jim and I are showing pictures of the same engine, though I doubt he'd be willing to remove the heat-shield to dimension it for you ;)

As for material, aluminum would be a poor choice, based on how quickly it conducts heat (or anything else). Steel, with a decent thermal barrier on the backside would be acceptable.

I do have this, showing the mounting studs, and yes, you are correct, in that it does not fit between the carbs, like most all other LBCs.

Randy, those pictures are very useful to me too, I'm just making a new heat sheild from steel with a proprietry motorsport heat protection material layed on it, my comment over a cable throttle link was half jesting since I do intend to make my own. A simple pulley centered on the throttle shaft grovved for two cables routed back direct to the pedal arm is what I have in mind but need to think it through in detail. Any pictures of other engineered solutions would be great ?

Yeah, I wondered about those rugs too! That would be comfortable when laying on the floor under the car.

I hope to have found the missing carb linkage parts in Ontario. They should arrive in about a week.

I also picked up a piece of stainless steel to fabricate the heat shield between the carbs and the exhaust manifold. I can guess at the dimensions, but it is only a guess. From the pictures and drawings found so far, it seems that the top section is 3" or 4" high, the middle sloping section is about 6" high and the bottom section is about 3" or 4" high. Overall width appears to be about 16". And then there are three cutouts - one at the top right hand corner and two at the bottom.

If anyone with a Longbridge with a heat shield can get some measurements, it would be much appreciated.
 
Hoping to re-install the carburetors soon, but should make up and install a heat shield first. Has anyone managed to find an original Longbridge heat shield to measure? That would be of great help.
 
Someone sent pics and measurements of the heat shield this afternoon, so it's time to make one. Carb linkage parts also arrived today.:encouragement: Thanks everyone.
 
Pretty happy with the result; painted both sides with high temp manifold paint. It may also get a light coat of engine paint on the outer surface. Now for the carbs and linkage . . .

Good looking and a job well done. per the Concours Guide for 2015 that heat shield should be painted red and not the engine color.:driving:
