London Taxi information please

I am very interested in purchasing and importing an FX4 London taxi to the States.
Can any of you share information with me about doing so?
I own a 1968 Herald and a 1962 Jaguar Mark 2. A London cab would complete my dream car stable.
Thank you

(see his Introduction of himself)

he's in Seattle and seems to have imported a number of British cars in the recent past and may be willing to advise you.

If you're looking to buy one you could try e-bay UK:

or

or

From ÂŁ.99 to ÂŁ12K- a little time lurking and watching should give you an idea of what's available, condition and costs.

There's also a lot of companies selling used taxis, a couple are:

the London Taxi Mart: https://www.taxi-mart.co.uk/

London Taxi Sales and Exports: https://www.londontaxiexports.co.uk/

you could find others- just google "london taxi sales" and you're on your way.

The British Automobile Association might provide a vehicle inspection service if you want one looked over.

Hope this helps.

Can these be registered and driven in the USA?

If they are old enough it shouldn't be a problem. I know of one dealership in colorado selling the current version of the london taxi. Very neat car and diesel to boot. If only I had 40k to blow.

I know "Tynan's" here in Fort Collins was selling them but I haven't seen any for a while. Actually, I don't think they sold any and have instead turned the ones they have into courtesy shuttles and parts delivery vehicles. I might have to stop by and ask. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If the cars sells for 500 pounds and it cost 500 more to ship to here, that seems like a decent deal but only if you can register a '91 taxi in NY.
