I am looking for a book I read as a kid, probably early 70s. I would bet the book was from the 50s or 60s. Of course I have no recollection of author or title.

Teenage farm kid gets visited by his uncle, who is a pilot with his own plane. Kid is of course very interested in flying and airplanes, one or both parents not nearly as excited.

Of course there is an airplane race and the kid participates. Kind of a "Red Car" type of book, only with airplanes. Typical 50s young adult kind of stuff.

There is also a neat illustration with the period planes, Bellancas and stuff from the Golden era. I have very fuzzy but warm memories. If anyone has a clue as to title or even a similar fuzzy memory would love to hear from you.

Crossposted on Goodreads, I think the smaller but more planes trains and automobiles and we'll read group here may be more likely to help me.

Glemon, have you thought about contacting a library that
may have an ā€˜older’ person working in the research
department?
