Lightweight E-Type 4WPD

I am a newbie on the forum looking for help to a question that has troubled me for several years. I am trying to locate information and maybe even a photo of Dan Gurney driving the John Coombs-owned 4WPD Lightweight in the Daily Express GT race held in May 1964 at Silverstone. I know he qualified 4th and finished 8th as a sub for Jack Brabham, but I do not know the car number. I plan to customize a model, either 1/43 or 1/24 to match the car. I have contacted the Daimler Trust, BRDC, researched magazines and scoured the internet to no avail; plenty of 4WPD with Stewart and Hill but no luck with Gurney. I even posted a letter to Mr. Coombs but never received a reply. If anyone can help me on this quest, I would be most grateful.

Welcome to the forum! Wow, you sure know how to ask the tough questions! It will be interesting to see if anyone here can help. I'd be curious myself.

The only reason of interest in that 1964 race is that it is the only time my records show Gurney in a lightweight e-type of any kind; what information does your book show for 1962? In fact the only other time that I know of that Gurney drove any sort of Jaguar was the E2A at Lemans in 1960. Thanks for you help.

I have him in that car with a soft top! It did not become a lightweight per se until later. I'm at work right now so I don't have access to the book but it is from "Jaguar Sports and Racing Cars from 1955" by Andrew Whyte, long considered the definitive volume on the subject in the UK. I'll check it out once I get home. Once I get my scanner working I'll shoot a picture and e-mail it to you.
