Lightening BN1 Flywheel

Hi Lerned ones,

I am wanting to lighten my BN1 Flywheel and ask if anyone out there has a drawing I can pass on to my machinist.

Here's hoping,

Tony

Tony,

It's pretty straight forward if you have him take off the extruded part of the flywheel and make it a flat flywheel. It's the flange that goes around the clutch. Takes off about 7 Lbs.

Easy does it - heat is the enemy, too much or you can warp it so suggest you grind the last 1/4 to 1/8 off and surface the entire face once done. Most clutch shops have grinding machines for this reason.

I can do a drawing if you need it but it's pretty stright forward.

Michael.

Thankyou for the input, I would appreciate a drawing if you would be so kind.
Have you modified your flywheel? if so, did you find an improvement?

Thanks,

Tony

Hope this helps.

Tony,
I seem to remember someone telling me that a 100/6 or a 3000 flywheel could be fitted and that they are lighter, might save costs and be able to keep the original as is
