Light switch - AGAIN!!

No good deed goes unpunished.
I thought I'd pull the wires from the dimmer and jumper them together so my dash lights would stay on.
So, of course, my forarm brushed up against the back of the light switch and... it fell apart. :frown:

Now I can't find the innards of the thing, I'm driving off to the autoparts store to get a toggle switch so I can have lights until I find a replacement.

Are there any light switches for later model Midgets that don't fall apart at the slightest touch??? That's the kind I want this time around!

Consider yourself lucky. Driving across Montana many years ago in a VW Sirroco I pushed the light switch and it caved in and cut my finger so bad It damaged the tendion. Had to drive in the dark for 50 miles to the hospital in Miles city. Stupid car.... Kind of glad it burn its self to the ground.Half baked bosch injection.

I went through 3 of those switches and then changed mine out to a different kind of switch.

Thanks, care to share what kind of switch you are using?
I just picked up a 50 amp toggle at the auto parts place, then after I installed it I found the last one I bought in the trunk!

Rick what I ended up using was from an old electrical panel that I got fro my work. Its made by cutler-hammer and you turn it. Off is in the center and the parking lights come one when switched to the left and parking and head lights when its switched to the right. I will look for a picture of it. I am pretty sure I got one somewhere. I might have another setup like that, that I can let go very cheaply if you need it. I am well pleased with mine so far.

Kim, I would love to see a picture.

I never knew how bright the dash lights could be!!
WOW :jester: :jester:

This wasn't finished of course and was setting on some buckets, but you can see the different switch in the dash. The swich part is actually round. I had to file out the dash just a tiny bit and it fit through and then there was a metal tag plate the covered the rest of the hole. I plan on making another one of those. out of stainless or something. That one is just plain metal.

Aha - now I see.
Thanks Kim.
For now I'm going to put in another LUCAS switch - BillM here has offered me one and actually when I get my new hood he and I are getting together to put it on. If I haven't put in the replacement switch by then we will make a day of it.
