TR4/4A License Plate Bulb Holder On TR4

I had the rear bumper on my TR4 Re-chromed. While cleaning the overrides I removed the license plate bulb holders. Now I can't make one of them burn. If I wiggle the bulb it will make a connection. I was going to buy new holders but can't find them from Moss, VB or the RF. Does anyone know of a source? Or can anyone give me advice for reworking it to burn again?

Do you have a picture of the socket in question? It sounds like a potential ground problem. Will it work if you run a test ground wire to a known good connection, or have you tested for power at the connector with a test light?

Moss still has them, maybe others? The lamp body is a little shorter than original now but they function the same:

If wiggling the bulb causes it to sort of work then I would look at the condition of the bulb base and the condition of the socket including the bit that touches the bottom tip of the bulb (should spring out enough to make good contact.

Once when I had the bunmper off I cut that very long harness somewhere up where the wires run inside the wings. Now I can remove the whole bumper by just undoing a couple of bullet connectors rather than removing the light fixtures and snaking the wires all thru the over-riders, etc.

Paul: I don't know how to post a picture. It is a two wire rubber socket. It is not grounded by way of socket to bumper.

Jay: It looks like that unit.

TR4 Nut: That's what I need. I did not find it in the Moss Catalog. I will Look again.

George: The bulb is new and the socket looks OK. It just won't make a good connection.

I am going to work on it again tomorrow. I will post what I find.

Thanks to all.

Update:

I thought these were molded together but I discovered I was wrong. I was able to pull the internal parts from the socket. I then cleaned the parts good and then re-assembled the unit. It seem to be OK now.

Thanks again for your help.
