MGB Lets Talk Windshields

Last year I got caught in a rain storm and water was coming in under the windshield and around the pillars it soaked my Fast 2 Fuel injection computer and knocked out the program. I was able to get home in limp mode, but it cost me $700.00 to get the car dynode again. Not wanting this to happen again I ordered new bottom seal and pillar seals. I pulled the windshield and stripped the old seals off and then. Well Murphy's law kicked in. First I couldn't get the new bottom seal in so next I tried to pull one pillar post so I could slide it on the track. I pulled a couple of screws of the bottom of the post and went to flip the windshield over so I could get to the top screws and the **** thing cracked. I put down the screwdriver said a few choice words, turned out the lights, and closed the barn door. I've heard that replacing the windshield is pretty tough. I think I'll check with the British car garage in Pittsburgh I called him once about a chrome windshield frame, but I didn't save the number. Anybody out there with any information on this guy, or someplace where I can buy a complete windshield assembly already put together with new seals.

Hey, Tony -

Yeah MGB windshield installation is a pain in the derriere. As for buying one already assembled, the only place I can think of might be ebay; but then you're at their mercy.

You planning on making the V8 gathering in WV next month?

I've got my reservation in at the motel, haven't made the reservation with British V-8's yet because I can't get my wife to commit. I'm still trying to get my lil Hot Rod ready but I keep running into Murphy

Yeah, that Murphy is relentless!

After ten years the seals on Her MGB have turned rock hard and splitting... I've replaced many windscreens over the decades and still would rather do three clutch R&R jobs than one windshield R&R on a B roadster. Gah.

I've done numerous windshield changes on numerous MGs I've owned over many years. Maybe I have the knack for it as I never found it that difficult. Or I may be weird. ...because I had quad bypass and didn't think that was too bad either.
