I have lots of video and photos from the 2011 Turkey Bowl at Summit Point with VRG.

I'll post more later, but here's a short clip from today.

Gotta love LeMans Starts. Something about old guys running to old cars. Hey Nial, how manys guys do you remember from metal shop in the 70s?

Sorry, but on SP pit lane, that was the definition of insanity. Everyone is very lucky that the beige/gull grey MGA was able to get moving after that bobble. Over the years there has been many an "interesting" idea at the turkeybowl. I was right behind the golf cart on left, waiting for the carnage.

George: Probably remember some guys.....but not all. That was a long time ago! Tell me more......

The Summit Point hot pit area is narrower than ideal; I've done this at Pocono which is much wider and there's far more room.

But Cal T. limited the entrants to small bore vintage only, which (in my opinion) "gets" this type of vintage start better than many other classes. The drivers I talked to (including Dave Tomasso in the gray MGA) seemed to like it. And a few who were unsure, just waited for the crowd to clear out.
I was wondering if any of the runners would do the "Icxy walk".

With modestly-powered cars, the cars were rolling out pretty slow, which allowed for decent reaction time.....actually, I thought the video was a nice demonstration of how well-behaved vintage racers are.
Trust me, it's probably much easier than driving fives lanes into two at the Lincoln Tunnel during morning rush hour.

Great, and that Cortina got with the program.

WOOHOO!!

Outside and OFF!!!

Did one of those starts once, where the crewman, me, facing the cars, runs across the track and hits the driver up side his head, uhhhh, tapped the drivers helmet, and then jumped the pit wall behind the car. I did great (1st one across), tapped the driver and jumped the pit wall. Well, almost jumped the wall. Thought my shin bone had to be shattered but luckily not. Was sore for awhile though.
