Meanwhile, Allan McNish is out in the favoured Audi (he's OK, but the crash was huge....see below)

Another Audi has crashed...this one even worse.

Mike Rockenfeller (past LeMans winner) has been tapped by a slower car while doing 180+ mph. Car is destroyed. No official reports but unofficial reports says Rocky has survived. Amazing (if true) considering the state of the car post-crash.

Audi has one car still running....and leading.

Just read that Rocky is okay, walked away much like McNish did. True testament to the engineering involved.

Two hours left.

Lola/Aston-Martin is 9th overall....the top Brit right now (another Lola/Toyota is just ahead of it).

Corvette just passed Ferrari for the lead in GT Pro class (12th OA).....but then pitted for tires so the Italians are back in the hunt in GT.

Amazingly the only Audi left is still leading, with four Peugeots following him. The first petrol-powered car is 6th right now (Pescarolo).

Live timing / position can be seen -HERE-

They threw out R. Kaufman (the guy who cut off Rockenfeller at 180 mph).

Michelin brought over 6000 tires to this race.

Audi by 13 seconds after 24 hours! Four Peugeots followed up. First 5 cars were diesel.

Corvette wins GT class on the 100th anniversary of Chevy.
Ford GT got a podium 3rd place in this class with a rookie husband/wife team of Andrea and David Robertson (with Murry as the 3rd driver). It was the Robertsons wedding anniversary and they put Andrea in the car for the finish. Nice touch. Remember the last time a Ford GT was on a podium at LeMans?

Great race. I was gigging all day so followed the ACO's Twitter feed for the race. Not a Twitter fan (had to sign up) but the feed was a good way to follow the race while out and about.

Nice that Corvette won both GT classes, and good on the Robertson's for their podium spot. That car (though good looking) has never been particularly competitive but it did prove reliable.

And the last time a Ford GT was on the podium was a few years before I was born.

Did you see the look on the faces of the crew that finished second?? They were not happy. Go Audi, and Go Corvette!! It is really nice that they actually cover the entire race as well as they do. Way to go Speed channel.

The 24-hour in-car feed from the Corvette was really neat. When I could watch I had that running on a small monitor next to the TV.

...and this has my vote for one of the best racing ads ever

Audis have been winning races all over the planet for many, many decades. Talk about a "storied marque", Audi is it.

Really artistically done piece, thanks for posting!~
