While shopping for a new cell phone at the AT&T store, the salesman casually mentioned a little factoid. If you cell phone ever gets wet, the best way to dry it out is put it in some uncooked rice overnight. The rest of the problems of the world are insignificant after this bit of info.

I thought that you learned where to find a nice Jag, Healey or another TR6.

He has a kid in medical school, so no fancy cars and lots of rice...

Actually, the kid never cost me a penny since he started college. Did it all on his own. He is an Intern at Stanford now. Kinda proud of him. Now, the one in law school. That is a different story.........

I dropped mine in the toilet once. dried it out the best I could and it worked fine for a while. Then the service at ATT went down the toilet and they said it was the phone which had been working fine until then. They said it was water damage and I asked how they could tell. There are two black dots that turn red when they get wet. So if you have a problem remember to paint the red dots flat black before trying to get your phone replaced.

the key is have the cell phone and the unkooked rice in a sealed zip-lock bag too.
I lost a cell phone of mine at a campfire one night. I got it back 6 months later when my friend hit it with his mower. It still worked fine. I used it for another year before upgrading. that was a decent phone.

Restaurants often put some rice in the salt shakers to keep the salt dry.

Make sure to remove the battery and what ever you do DO NOT TURN THE PHONE ON after it gets wet. Then the rice in a bag trick works great.

I hope that you're not referring to your kid,but to your phone.

I once left mine in a pants pocket and ran it through the washing machine, full spin cycle and all.

Took it out and removed the battery and just left it for two weeks to dry out. Then charged it back up and it's still working fine, two+ years later.
