Lead or octane boost?

I just had my BN-2 engine rebuilt, with M cam, pistons, carbs, and an aluminum head. The car is pinging under load, I am runnig the best gas we can get here. Is a lead additive safe for the aluminum head, or should I use an octane boost?

Check your timing.

I agree with BH, a 91 (or 93 Sunoco, if you can get it) octane should leave you without a ping.

A BN2 motor built to M-spec with M pistons should not ping with premium umleaded. I suggest you need to check your timing.
