I'm not a professional on this subject, but the exteriors may be all black. The interiors are either all black or a mixture of Autumn Leaf and black. Lots of those later cars have mixed interiors like that.
Some North American spec LE's in fact had a mix of Black and Tan interiors...carpeting only though, I believe. All NA spec MGs had exterior colour of black.
Carpeting...Many later VIN NA spec MGBs had a mix of black and tan carpeting...especially the rear floor mats and sometimes the back deck...the factory was using up the supply they had on hand.
Clausager, while remaining an excelent overall reference, is in error in some aspects.
I won't disagree with that. Actually, here's what Clausinger says about the carpet:
"On cars with Autumn Leaf or Beige trim, carpets were black in front of the seats but brown behind the seats (Autumn Leaf on cars with Autumn Leaf trim and Chesnut on cars with Beige trim)."
This is a good thread! I had actually forgotten about that.
WOW!! Am I shocked...my guy at Moss (remember, I'm a distributor) said that for a 25% fee, they'll do a special carpet order that matches that color combination - but they can't do it with the molded transmission tunnel piece as they can only do it with carpet they make in-house.
He also told me to check the Roadster Factory as he thinks they offer carpet in the double color.
My 80 Non LE has tan seats and door panels Black carpet in front and tan carpet in rear. I thought someone had changed the front carpet. I have since replaced all the carpet to black. If I had known this could of been factory I would have kept the carpet. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif
Just talked with the Roadster Factory (I'm now a dealer for them also, just gotta wait for my catalog to see what my prices will be). They offer the kit for $379 retail, but as a Roadster Factory dealer, I can sell it for a bit less. Part # is CTMMGB33SBLKTN.
Wow! Glad I asked the question. I saw a picture of one today and it had an Autumn leaf interior; Kicks, doors, top rail & seats. Carpets were black.
I thought I'd ask to learn more and good to see it sparked some interest. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
