One of the Nashville British Car Club members came up with a great idea for decorating. The club is thinking of doing this club-wide next year, with each participant coming up with his or her own ideas. Here's a link to some pictures:

When I asked permission to post this, I told him about the Forum; hopefully he'll hook up with us.

That's a great idea Mickey!!! Maybe it'll catch on here for next year and we can have LBC Christmas displays coast-to-coast!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

Well, I love his TF!!

OK, I received my approval email last night so I am now on the FORUM.

We moved into our neighborhood a year ago and when we moved in we had no idea how serious our street gets about x-mass decorating so this year we did not want to go over the top like many of the others but we did want to do something interesting. Thanks to an idea from a fellow club member we had a hit this year to add to our outdoor decorations. She recommended taking my wife Debby’s Red 55 MG and getting a full size Santa Claus along with some wrapped presents then parking the car at the end of our driveway to add to the rest of the lights.

We improvised a little because we had a difficult time finding a life size Santa (well that was not $1000 plus and that would fit into the MG) . We did come across an inflatable Santa Mickey Mouse that fit the car great then we added some lighted gift boxes to sit on the cock pit cover next to him.

We parked it at the end of our driveway with a spot light then things got crazy. Our street normally has tour buses, limos and a continuous stream of cars over the holidays but the car creates a traffic jam every time we put it out. I can not believe how many people slow down to look, back up because they missed it or stop for a while to just look at it. Many even get out to take their picture with Santa Mickey and the car.

It has been a blast watching the excitement and helping to add some smiles to those that have stopped by. I would never have guessed something this simple would be such a hit.

Welcome, Curt! I think you'll find the Forum a great place for advice (whether you want it or not!) and camaraderie.

And, Tony - I lusted after his TF at the Nashville show, where he bought it. Had I a few extra dollars and a place to keep it, it would be mine! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Well, Mickey - who knows what 2008 will bring!!

Welcome, Curtis....if your wife owns the TF, what LBC do you own? hehehe

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Well, since I am too tall to comfortably drive the MG I have a 1957 TR3 and recently added a 2007 Mini Cooper S Convertible to the stable. I bought Debby the MG for an anniversary gift and I am now one car over my 5 car garage limit /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Here are pics of the TR3 when we got it form Debby's uncle who was the original owner. I am working on the interior over the winter and plan to put some modern rubber on the ground.

Welcome Curt;
As Mickey says, this forum will keep you entertained.
Nice car, but be careful who you lend it to, That guy in the photos, well his best friend is Goofy. Need I say more?
Merry Christmas and thanks for the photos Mickey /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

4-post lift!!!

I am trying to work that one out, unfortunately my garage is may not be tall enough. I think my ceiling is 7ft. I need to do some more measuring but my wife says I should just sell the Corvette to solve the problem, I keep telling her that is only a temporary fix /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I am considering digging out some of my walk in crawl space and putting in steel beams to get rid of a few pillars to see if I can get a few more in there /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

The better (unrealistic) idea is to build an underground car cave/garage behind my house. Our property has a pretty steep uphill grade right behind our driveway so I thought it would be cool to build an underground garage/cave and put trees or grass back on top of it, kind of like the Bat Cave /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Hey, that's exactly the kind of photo submission I need for this page of my site: https://www.mgnuts.com/xmas /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Steve,
That is a very cool bunch of pictures! Feel free to grab one off my site or if you need one in better quality let me know which one and I can email it.

Thanks Curt, I'll grab one and it it to the site with a link to your gallery. If you want a different link please let me know!

Curt, Welcome. I agree with your wife, sell the Corvette. While it's a temporary solution, you could then re-fill that space with a nice Healey or Jag! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

That's a great pic & welcome to the BCF.

I like the TR and its nice home. Welcome Curt, glad to have ya.

A TR and a TF. cool combo. That'd make my garage happy. AND a Vette?!?! Who do you have left to pick on???hehehe
