The Ol' Fella bought a '73 V6 four-speed while I was in S.E. Asia. He didn't drive it much, tho. I borrowed it on several occasions and one particular trip comes to mind: Had borrowed the Capri while rebuilding the Elan trans, went to a local eatery for dinner. Came out to drive home and as I shifted into reverse the shift lever snapped off with about an inch of it left in the shifter boot. Got a Vice-Grip out of the trunk, clamped it on the stump and motored home. The Ford dealership had the shifter in stock and told me they were notorious for breaking like this. I got a second one for a "spare." The car got sold sometime in '78~'79, the "spare" was still in the trunk. Fun car, too.

Problems were. Shifter snapping
Clutch cable snapping
Seat recline breaking
Rear window coming unglued from opener
Wipers flying off.
Most were covered by recalls.
The wiper recall I had done. Drove it home and it never started again

It shifted sorta like the Elan then, too. Just a bit awkward to grab.
