up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Hi guys.

Its been a while since i posted here last.
Thought it would be good to touch base again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Well the ol mg is gone, but not forgotten. Is in storage 100odd k's west of melbourne. Just sitting doing nothing im guessing, great to know all the thousands of $'s i put into it is going to a good cause ey!

Well i picked up my new car about a month ago now. Got it from a shifty lookin car dealership. For the price i paid for it i couldnt afford not to buy it.
I got a 1988 VN Commodore S pack, its manual, n plenty of power to burn the rear rubbers /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angel.gif
- Its a holden, its an aussie car. Doubt many of you have heard of em. They use the buick 3.8 v6

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Good to hear from you, Jarrod! Well now you can get your big engine fix, and when you've been there and done that you can return to a real sports car! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Best wishes!

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

I still like the wheels you put on the MGB - wish there was a way to get a set to Alabama!

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Hi, Jarrod. Sounds like things are looking up down under! Sure sorry about you not having an MG anymore, but that Commodore should keep you happy for awhile! Just keep at least one eye out for another MG, preferably one in good condition and CHEAP!

Good luck to you,

Guinn

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

yeah, just keep in mind MGBs are a bit too old for the "body kit" scene, in the modern sense anyways. But a full on Sebring kit on a B is pretty hot and will certianly turn more heads than a 'stock' 'B... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Hey Jarrod -
Glad to hear you're alive and well down there. The commodore looks nice, but as the summer weather hits, I have a feeling you're really going to be let down looking up and seeing a roof over your head. Ah well, If it will make you feel better, every time you go for a drive, you can toss a quart of oil and $20 out the window. It'll be almost like having an LBC again!

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

LOL, so true ey!
hehehe

Think ill hang on2 my $'s for now :p

It's just so fun driving around in a mass produced car... its like going on a car cruise 24/7 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonono.gif

Anyways, i was looking over ausdatto forums (nissan/datsun forum) some guy in queensland is selling a healy sprite which he was building to accept some 2ltr datto engine.(STUPID ENGINE CONVERSION!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif) He's wanting something like 3 grand for it. That would account to somethin like 4odd grand in US dollars. Only the rolling shell...
He says that the paint has just been sprayed on.
Be a nice start to build up an sr20det MONSTER, u recon its worth it?
Cheers

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Steve S

Can you send that picture to my private email. My 19 year old will die when he sees it. Thanks.

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Can't you just right click on the picture and select Save Picture As or just Print? Works for me (Win XP, Internet Explorer).

Guinn

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Yes, just right-click and select "save as". Unless you have a Mac in which case you probably have no right mouse button so you're on your own. Maybe I'll just email it to you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Ya know, that has bugged me about Macs for the longest time. ESPECIALLY, after I hooked up a "normal" mouse to a Mac machine at work. Mac OSX does have right-click and mouse wheel functionality, but why Apple does not include a mouse to take advantage of this is beyond me!

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Because you're supposed to "think different" even when it isn't better! Macs are good machines, but their stubborness bites them in the arse every now and then. The computer industry survives on emulating good designs. A mouse with more than one button is a good design. My mouse has five buttons and a scroll wheel and I use every one of them!

A couple months ago a Mac user friend was showing me an add in a Mac magazine. He was laughing because this ad was for an amazing new mouse that had two buttons, as if they wer the first to think of it. It was absurd! We both got a good chuckle out of it though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

I hear the multi-button thing. I have a Logitech MX70. It has a total of 7 buttons + the wheel. I use 6 of them (never figured out what button 7 does... I might not have that button configured or something), and I'm constantly searching for those buttons on the mouse I have at work, ESPECIALLY the forward and back buttons located by my thumb... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

I use a Logitech MX510. And now that I think about it, I have 7 buttons as well! I rarely use the two above and below the scroll wheel so I forgot about them.

But I agree, I can't do without the Forward and Back buttons anymore. Way, way too handy!

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

errr... MX700... dunno why i didn't look at the bottom of the mouse earlier... heh. The buttons above and below the wheel are page up page down... I usually use them when I can scroll though stuff quickly to find what I need (e.g. news groups)

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Hey, showed the picture to my son. He said he finally found an MG he liked. He told me he saw an ad for a 2005 MG being made in Europe. Anybody else seen them?

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Sure, MG has been in full production of modern cars since the late 90's. Unfortunately they company went out of business, again, this year and was sold to the Chinese.

If your son liked that car, how about this one? Go to the 4th section down, red MGB with a 427(?).

Re: up-date from OZ-TRALIA

Hey Jarrod good to hear from you again, good to hear that you're still with us even though you have sucumbed to the "dark side", This car came up on OZ EBAY, how brave are you feeling? (it's even in Victoria....)
