Spitfire Later Spitfire overdrive on eBay.

Anyone looking for a overdrive transmission for a later Spitfire (J-type)? There's one on eBay now with what seems to be a pretty low Buy It Now price that could serve as a rebuildable core (has a bad laygear and input shaft).

Later Spitfire overdrive transmission

Would be even better if you lived in NC and could pick it up and save the shipping charges.

That one is a re-list. It got to just over 100 last time. I live fairly closely, but the condition is a bit of a scare. I do have another non OD transmission that I could use provided the mainshaft on this one is good.

Scott, didn't you have an early OD transmission for sale?

Overdrives seem to bring a real premium price these days so thought this would be good for someone who's not afraid to rebuild their own transmission and do as you mention to use the mainshaft and overdrive to convert a good non-overdrive transmission to overdrive.

Yeah, I've got a bunch of early Spitfire parts that I need to go through at some point in my spare time since we decided 3 TR project cars is enough and sold Kym's Spitfire. I know that I've got a D-type overdrive in storage somewhere.

Scott, Thanks for the tip, a good friend wants one, and we a fairly close.. We have already converted from the early tranny to the later, big pain. Hope this will work out. Didn't see a buy it now.

I'm bidding on that listing...have a good regular trans and I'm willing to do the work to pull the O/D off this one and put it on mine. I'm not local to NC but whatever. I'm sick of high RPMs.

Bummer, I guess the seller changed his mind on the Buy It Now price (It was $150)?

Sometimes the BIN disappears once a bid is placed. But IIRC, there were already several bids on it and the BIN was still listed. So I guess he did remove it.

I see it ended up going for $260.

Probably at least based on the other eBay overdrive prices. A shame though that someone didn't take it at $150.
